Safe Candle
Burning Tips:

Burning beeswax candles is an art and each person does it a bit differently. However, there are some key items to remember when burning candles:

Keep your candles out of a draft. If the flame is flickering then your candle is in a draft and it will burn unevenly and/or drip.

Keep your wicks trimmed! Candles need oxygen to burn properly. If the wick is too long or contaminated it will impede the flow of oxygen and cause your candle to smoke and burn poorly. Do not allow wick debris to collect in the wax pool.

How long should wicks be trimmed? The 1/4" length is the starting point. Once the candle is lit you may find that it burns better with a slightly longer wick. The candle wick in a candle is constantly feeding fuel (the wax) to the flame and a pool of wax is created around it due to the heat. The size of this wax pool can vary due to wick size, ambient air temperature and humidity, thickness of candle, how long it has been burning and other variables. Observation and common sense are your best guides.

The best way to extinguish a pillar candle or votive is by tipping the wick into the wax pool using a non-flammable object, straightening the wick to let cool. This primes the wick for the next burning and eliminates smoking. For taper candles it is best to use a candle snuffer.

Never leave a burning candle unattended! Burn on a heat-resistant surface. Do not move or touch while hot or while wax is liquid. Trim wick to 1/4 inch before burning. Protect from drafts. Keep out of reach of children. Open flame--use caution and at your own risk.

Burning a Beeswax candle that is scented with pure essential oils provides a sensory experience that can in no way be compared to that of synthetic waxes and scents. The long-burning beeswax provides a sweet and sultry base that subtly wafts the essential oils throughout the room. You will find yourself inhaling deeply and fully, and exhaling with a relaxed and happy "Ahhhhhhh!" But keep in mind, subtle is the word for these wonderful fragrances. These are not "in your face" synthetic perfumes. They are nature's own, soft and sweet as a walk through a fragrant garden.

Bear Creek Candle Company uses only the finest quality aromatherapy grade pure essential oils in their candles. Each blend has been formulated with the oils' therapeutic effects in mind, but the casual candle aficionado, who is looking for the finest candles available but cares nothing for aromatherapy, will be absolutely delighted as well.

Burn these pillars for 1 to 1 1/2 hours at a time for maximum enjoyment. Extinguish when a 1/4" wall of wax remains. If a longer burn time is desired, simply blow out the candle, let the beeswax harden for 5 to 10 minutes and relight. Burn time approx. 10 hours per inch.
